SciTech Experience/Internship Institutional Guidelines
Following are the guidelines relating to the work experience/internship requirements for SciTech recipients:
- Work experiences/internships prior to enrollment in NETS may be considered for this requirement.
- Work experiences/internships are college/university approved.
- Work experiences must be relevant to the student's major.
- Work experiences/internships must be incorporated into the degree curriculum and can be credit or noncredit.
- The college/university will determine the length of the work experience/internship.
- Supervision of the educational and work-related experiences will be the responsibility of the college/university and the appropriate academic department.
- Work experiences/internships must be served prior to completion of the requirements of the undergraduate degree and must be reported to the Agency by the institution.
- Work experiences/internships must be served with a company with operations in Pennsylvania; however, the internship may be served outside of Pennsylvania.
- Work experiences/internships may be paid or unpaid.
- Work experiences/internships may be full or part-time.
- Work experiences/internships may include co-op or work experience programs and jobs through work-study financial aid programs.
Please note that although a certain internship may be related to the student’s major, the same work experience/internship may not meet the NETS employment requirement.
